Our “Poster – IT Provider Management” provides you with an overview of the necessary internal organization for provider management as well as the design of the provider interface and clearly summarizes all key points to be considered. It thus provides a good overview of key aspects that are explained in detail in our book “IT Provider Management – Optimal Control of External Providers”.
The poster IT Provider Management divides the presentation – following the outsourcing life cycle – simplistically into three phases: Planning and awarding the outsourcing, Transition and Operation. In the “Planning and awarding of outsourcing” phase, the poster outlines the planning of the internal organization, in particular the process interfaces, tasks and roles & responsibilities to be specified. In the “Transition” phase, the implementation of the planned organization is shown: here, particular reference is made to the implementation of all processes, interfaces and tools. The presentation in the “Operation” phase focuses on the allocation of tasks to different internal entities and the coordination of their cooperation as well as essential core aspects of provider management in the regular operation phase: performance management and reporting, auditing, relationship management (i.e. communication, meetings and escalation), handling of documentation (knowledge management) provider evaluation including benchmarking, risk management as well as continuous improvement.
The poster, while simplistic, provides a good overview of required activities to build an internal organization and the tools needed for it. In addition, key areas of responsibility become apparent in the regular operating phase, i.e., after completion of a successful transition project. Seen in this light, this poster can provide a good initial orientation, similar to a rough map on the way to optimal cooperation with external service providers. The details can then be worked out from our other publications (book, white papers, technical articles, amendos special and blog articles). To do this, simply search on our website “amendos publications” and use the function “article search” (top right of the page). There you will find articles for many aspects that will provide you with approaches and suggestions. This is a good basis to develop your provider management.
